Isn't that just SMTP AUTH? Most email clients support it.
According to the chart at
http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/other/auth-mua.html, Outlook (Express)
may be the only client that can log into an MSN mail server, assuming
they require LOGIN or NTLM authentication.
