RE: [cobalt-users] Raq4 Rebooting without error

Fred, thanks for all your help! I went to my NOC and looked at the Raq4 in
question, sure enough the Fan behine the CPU is not working. It will be
getting replaced afterhours. Thanks again. Hopefully this should fix the
problem.

Ran into this problem myself recently. While a lot of people report
this problem, it's hard to find a solution. I'll summarize what I've
discovered.

Apparently, it's usually caused by one of three things:

Potential Cause: Invalid entry in the log that throws off Analog's
processing of status.
Resolution: Remove analog processing from the split_logs.pl script.

Potential Cause: System is running out of memory during the rotation
process.
Resolution: Upgrade to 512MB RAM.

Potential Cause: High load average during this process is causing cpu to
overheat.
Resolution: Monitor /proc/cpuinfo for temperature. Check fans.

Heat is what was causing my problems. I'm glad we caught it before the
processor burned out.

There could be other causes as well. This is the only information I've
been able to find by scouring the sun forums and the internet.

Fred
