At the same time, we currently have a need for a local fileserver that will talk to our network of Macs (Mostly OSX, some OS9, so we need Appletalk).

The RaQ is perfectly capable of being a very good file server. All the
programs required are already installed (samba for Windows and netatalk
for Mac). They are not activated on the RaQ by default, though, and don't have GUI support, as file sharing is not something a web server normally needs to do... especially a colocated one.

That's typically not a problem for me, excepting the RaQ is missing the man page for netatalk. :)

Can we reinstall our RaQ4r with a Cube OSRCD?
Yes. Use the Qube "Professional" (with RAID support) CD.

Hm. Where would I find that, other than purchasing it from Sun?

Basically you need to get to a Cobalt page and log in. If you can not find the place you think is correct, click on download. It will give you a page with a bunch of downloads. (3 sections I think and a heading of "All") Select all and scroll down to Sun Cobalt Server OS Restore Software and select it. You will get another page you must log in at. Once here you are almost there. Accept the license and proceed to the download page. Select the ISO you want and download it.
