We'll, that's a tough call without being able to poke around on
the server and I can't do that for you. Separately each of the errors
makes sense and is easily rectified but if they're all currently being
generated when you try to start or run sendmail then I have to think that
either one of the two configuration files that the newer version of
sendmail requires is either missing, scrambled or simply the incorrect
version. You could also, for example, have installed a sendmail from an
RPM that wasn't quite right or from source and thus perhaps have two
sendmails which would account for the scrambling.

I'm going to have to bail out. If it were my server I'd uninstall
the packages, check for any sendmail stuff that the uninstall left behind,
delete any and all of it, then try a fresh install with a package from a
trusted source. But I wouldn't recommend that you do this simply because I
don't know what the installation package is capable of. If you delete
everything sendmail related, as I suggested, the installation package may
not include some of what you delete and if this is a production server
and you are not capable and prepared to do a rapid install from source you
could easily end up in the deep darks.

For what it's worth, at this point I would suggest finding
yourself a good consultant and perhaps setting them loose on the box. None
of this is all that difficult to deal with, anyone handy with sendmail
could surely sort this out quite rapidly.

And, no, I don't work servers that we don't own and operate. There
are plenty of people who do on this list though.

	Best Regards,

	Brent
