RE: [cobalt-users] Raq550 - resynchronizing continuosly

I have a Raq550 that is stuck in this resync, reboot loop. It's a dual 40gb
Drive model.
Any Idea if SUN has resolved this issue yet and released a fix?
I don't find one on the SUN Cobalt website.

Thanks,

Jeff

Sorry but i didn't subscribe to this list until a few days ago. I also had
the same reboot at 80%, so i spent my $95.00 and had sun get me online with
a tech. Was up way too late last night, but did get it resolved.

Solution:

Roll back the kernel. The tech went in and manually rolled back the kernel
to the previous version before the patch. The machine was rebooted after
that, and of course the harddrives had to resynchronize. Afterwards it
showed that one of the drives was dead, so i completely shutdown the machine
and let it sit for about 5 minutes before bringing back up. After a final
resynchronizing the raq is back to normal.

Origin of Problem:

I'm just repeating what the tech mumbled off to me while on the phone
because he wasn't too happy at seeing this. Turns out this is really close
to the same problem they had awhile back with a kernel patch for the RaqXTR
machines, and alot of heads rolled for it. Basically it looks like the
patch they gave us for the 550 contained the exact same code that someone
messed up a bunch of XTR's with. And to answer the question on where the
kernel patch is, after last night i'm not surprised its been pulled.
