Dear gurus, Having used SMTP Auth with SASL on another Linux machine, I attempted to use the SMTP AUTH mechanism on a RAQ4---without success. I found that everything seems to be in place:

Still: the machine mentions "Relaying denied. Please check your mail first" when I try sending with authentication. Why?
[snip]IIRC, SMTP AUTH is not enabled in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf. We had it working successfully in the lab a few months ago using a modified sendmail.mc based on instructions Tim Jung posted to the isp-linux list.
You'll also find that the RaQ4 doesn't have the SASL libraries for the LOGIN auth needed for Outlook (Express). It's straightforward to download the SRPM for the last Sun release of SASL for the RaQ and build a modified RPM with LOGIN enabled.
