For whatever reason I thought in the past that it used to send out the
automated message each time a messages was recieved. I seem to recall being
reminded about it by customers a few times.

It's not meant to flood people so it will only respond to the same
address once a week. That way you don't flood a list like this if you
accidentally turn it on for a subscribed address.
