Aah! Evolve. Yes. You're right. It has to be that way. All my
rationalisations (why invent the wheel etc) are just keeping me in the
swamp.
Trying to remain amphibious is only getting me bogged down. I have to get up
on two legs on dry land. Its not as if I'll be the first one.
Of course I'll have to cast off some nasty habits.

Does tar cfp /var/lib/pgsql obviate the need for

/usr/local/sbin/cobalt_prebackup
mv /var/cobalt/backup/cce.tar .

I've been manually doing:

cd /vol/.hdc1/backup # I have a second drive in mine
/usr/local/sbin/cobalt_prebackup # takes about a minute
mv /var/cobalt/backups/cce.tar . # so its not there if booted
tar zcfv moebius.conf.tar.gz /var/named /var/db /etc /root /opt
tar zcfv moebius.websites.tar.gz /home/sites /home/.sites/*/*/web
tar zcfv moebius.siteusers.tar.gz /home/.sites/*/*/users/*/web
chown admin. *

I'd better add p to tar (and take out v - I know by now what it looks like)

and what about restore? Well, evolve! Try it! (Lucky I've got a spare 550)

Four legs good, two legs better. (Orwell - Animal Farm)
