What does the
$ hostname
command return?
If it returns the proper fully qualified domain name of the host, then
what do you get as a response to
dig <fullyqualifieddomainname>
Do you get an answer? What?

Sounds like you need to get hostname reset. see "man hostname".

If hostname isn't working there may be a lot of missing files. Did you
manage to restore files from somewhere?

How did you try to reboot it? From the gui?
What did the hosting company do to get it to reboot?
When they rebooted it, did the hostname appear in the LCD?
