Re: [cobalt-users] Cobal 3 qube as Primary Domain Controller and Master Browser

Hi

Did you set os level=30 manually or through the GUI?
I think there is no way to set this value through the GUI on Cobalt Cube 3.
Of course I can change - I can telnet to the box and edit smb.conf, but
SUN dosn't recomend any changes to be made outside the GUI.
I was wondering why "os value=1" is the default setting.

Thank you for you help!

Best regards:

Hi,

I have setup my Cobalt Cube 3 as a Primary Domain Controller and WINS
server.
All settings were done through the GUI.
I did telnet to Cobalt and I found out that in samba's configuration
file /etc/samba/smb.conf
the parameter "os level" is set to 1 ("os level" =1)
which gives Cobalt Cube 3 no chance to win Master Browser election in
case there are other
machines in the network fighting to win the election....
Is this correct? Why it is not set to 255 for example?
Then samba will win Master browser election every time!

Do I need to change this manually as Cobalt Cube 3 doesn't provide me
with GUI tools?
Is "os level=1" correct value?

Thank you for the help in advance!
Milen
