I used to see the 'top posting comments' when I first joined this list and
ignored the discussion, and posted in context like I always have.

More recently I have been following some email lists that provide digests.
It becomes glaringly obvious why top posting is evil if you do!

You should try reading the digests when people are top-posting! It is
impossible to get the context. Also there is no need to repeat the entire
message verbatim *underneath* the insightful response - most people reading
the list have already read it once or twice already!

Thinking about digests, you find top posting and then the <stupid> html
copy of the message that some lame-brained mailers attach automatically the
digest becomes unreadable.

If you want to be a member of an emailing based forum (technical or
otherwise) do not top post or post HTML to the list - it's that simple!
