I have used the genuine OS restore cd (not a download) on a raq2, but
~ GUI has not come up,
~ console not permitting root login.
The sequence was as follows:
1) OS restore (raq2) - all appeared to go ok (watched echo on console)
2) set the network parms on the lcd (ip, mask of 255.255.255.224,
gateway)
3) am unable to ping or access GUI
4) with console can login as admin
5) ps reveals just bash and ps ie no apache
6) unable to login as su, password stated as being invalid (since have
not set password in gui)
7) used passwd to set admin passwd but still not able to access su
(password invalid)
8) used paperclip to reset password (but still not able to access su
(password invalid)
8) repeated OS restore - exactly same result
Does anyone know how I can resolve this apparent catch 22? I have
physical access to the server.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Simon
