[cobalt-users] last msg on .med tld

Just to finish up this thread on the .med tld - this is from the owner of our ISP:

written to ISP

Also - what are your thoughts on the new pseudo tld's, ie: .med - the new.net stuff. I'm not thrilled at their setup, but I do own xxx.med and have to decide how much work it is worth to own. I think there is a lot of ISP issues involved with it. Have you thought about these? I agree with icann that it is like cyber-squatting on tld's.

response from ISP

Don't waste your time or money. They are a hack and most people can't get to them anyway. We won't support them because the idea BREAKS the idea of DNS which is supposed to be a distributed hierarchy. Email to new.net domains will never work either since nobody is going to hack their mail servers. It is easier to get people to install a browser plugin than to get mail admins to hack their servers to support something non-standard with lots of resistance.
