Just to finish up this thread on the .med tld - this is from the owner of
our ISP:

Also - what are your thoughts on the new pseudo tld's, ie: .med - the
new.net stuff. I'm not thrilled at their setup, but I do own xxx.med and
have to decide how much work it is worth to own. I think there is a lot
of ISP issues involved with it. Have you thought about these? I agree
with icann that it is like cyber-squatting on tld's.

Don't waste your time or money. They are a hack and most people can't get
to them anyway. We won't support them because the idea BREAKS the idea of
DNS which is supposed to be a distributed hierarchy. Email to new.net
domains will never work either since nobody is going to hack their mail
servers. It is easier to get people to install a browser plugin than to
get mail admins to hack their servers to support something non-standard
with lots of resistance.
