[cobalt-users] [Qube2] php-4.3.1 mysql-3.23.55 apache_1.3.27 authentiction problem

I upgrade a Qube2, php-4.3.1 mysql-3.23.55 apache_1.3.27
   using mod_auth_pam-1.1.1 compiled into apache.

My phpinfo is here;

Now I seem to have http authentication problems.

root and registered users can ssh into the server OK,
admin can login to the admin GUI
htaccess in a user file works as long as you use a .htpasswd file

BUT, when the public site is set to Restricted,
no one can login to the 'public site'
Any-ideas?
