I already did this and the version is too old for this software I need....
libstdc++-2.95.3-1c1r4
libstdc++-compat-2.95.3-1c1r4
libstdc++-devel-2.95.3-1c1r4
The guy who has compiled the software has done it on RedHat 8 I think. This
isn't a source distribution and isn't ever likely to be although I might be
able to persuade him to compile it for an older platform.

That's what I'm worried about.

I can't find this library available for 6.2. I did a test install one of
the redhat RPMs to see what dependencies it would come up with and it looks
like lots has got to be put in there and I'm worried that one of the steps
involved may cause real problems.
If anyone has ever done this and can share some experiences, I'd be
grateful. If it's going to be easier to just get another server with a
newer OS, then I might just have to do that.
