Jeff,
Usually this is because the actual mail file has a blank line at the
beginning or some garbage text. You should be able to read it using /webmail
(to read and delete the first emails) or delete and re-add that user from
the siteadmin, or pico w /home/spool/mail/that-actual-user to see what the
problem is.
