This is a Linux issue, not necessarily Raq, but could be related.
I have a drive from a Linux machine that has the usual /, /home, /usr, /root
etc. partitions on it. I would like to mount it on a new machine so that I
can transfer the data over. But I seem to be encountering a problem when I
try that, because the drive on the new machine has partitions of the same
names.
The old drive no longer boots properly, and the password file has become
corrupted. I cannot even log into a command line locally. I cannot FTP to
the old machine to transfer the data.
Somehow (I'm not picky how) I just need to get the data from one drive to
the other. I've gotta be missing something here. Any suggestions?
