I did an OS Restore today on the machine. Changing the Host name works fine. I will go back to a duplicate of the other system again and try it again tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens!
BTW: the system copy was patched current to December 31 and included OWM, SSH, MySQL all from Pkgmaster. And SolarSpeed's Spam and AV Tools.

Well, I tried changing the Host name on the new install today. Works fine. Wonder where it went wrong :(
I did make another duplicate of the original setup and tried it again. Still did not work. 

I'm sticking with the new install.
