Believe both F-prot (mailscanner) and amavis have "options" on whether or not
to quarantine detected items. I played with this at one time, but quickly
turned it off (quarantine) when I noticed how much it was "saving".
For F-Prot (mailscanner) this is in the mailscanner.conf file:
# Set what to do with infected attachments or messages.
# keep ==> Store under the "Quarantine Dir"
# delete ==> Just delete them
Action = delete
#Action = keep
and I change "all" of mine to delete - I see no reason to keep something that
has either been determined to be a virus or "dangerous" attachment.....
