Asking questions is fine, asking for complete step by step
solutions, to a problem that the poster hasn't even attempted
to solve themselves is IMHO not fine.
this is the situation where if you pretend to be stupid, then
somebody else will do it for you. Even if the people who do
help out with a good answer 'somehow' make some kind of
financial return from their good efforts, the original poster
has learnt nothing and will continue to be a drain on other
peoples knowledge, rather than a provider of new insight,
which the list can share.

If it seemed a nasty way of putting it, I apologise, but I
have people who complain to me because they can't set up their
own email accounts in Outlook (Express), and even when I give
them illustrated howto's, they still can't do it.
Why is it up to me to solve their problem. Owning/using any
kind of computer brings a certain amount of responsibility, ie
the user is responsible for their own actions. Crap in, crap
out remember.

I could go on, but it wouldn't do any good.
All I know is that if a poster has tried to solve their own
problem, but failed, then a concise account of what they have
done to try and solve it, should always accompany their
request for help on the list.
Not, "please give me full details of what you have learned by
your hard work over the years, for nothing, and in an easy to
follow format."

Lifes not like that.
