Trying to find answers to a couple of questions. Already spent
hours hitting the archives and search engines.
(So someone will probably post a link to the exact solution within minutes
:)
Currently my upline provides reverse dns. However I'm installing a new
firewall (smoothwall) on a linux box.
I have most everything worked out except for how to handle reverse dns.
After the install, all of my sites will be use private IP addresses and
be accessable via the NAT in the firewall box and forward dns behind the
wall.
I just don't understand how a reverse dns would work if it is outside
of the firewall (ie at my uplines site) and cannot see how it would work
behind the firewall.
(ie. the reverse dns outside would be unable to access the private ips.
and if inside the firewall, how would the private ips be referred to from
the outside.)
So in a nut shell...
Can reverse dns be inside a firewall (Pretty sure the answer has to be yes.)
If so, can anyone point me to a howto or good readme on the subjetc.
TIA.
