Hey, they first need to "incent the salesforce and the resellers" to
sell Suns! We WANT to buy a Sun server (we've got an app that only runs
on Solaris/SPARC), but we can't get anyone to talk to us about it.
We're primarily a Tru64 and Linux shop, with one old Sun (for this app)
that needs replacing, and we had some questions. It took us a couple of
months just to get a reseller to visit, and we can't get anything more
out of them (we've been recommended a second reseller by the app vendor
and still can't get what we need).
On the other hand, our DEC^WDigital^WCompaq^WHP reseller is always in
contact with us to see if we need anything or he can help with anything.
He comes by whenever we have a question and works hard for our business.
He's got contacts with HPAQ, so he can help get problems solved.
Our regular network equipment vendor can resell RaQs to us, but they
don't stock very many (we either have to wait for them to get some in
stock or have them drop shipped). It seems to me that Sun is having
problems in part because they make it hard to buy from them. If we
didn't have this one app and 100 RaQs already, we'd look elsewhere.

I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble.
