Yup ... /proc/cpuinfo will give you the current clock speed for the
processor. Another thing I noticed ... when the machine was running
the
original process, I got this:
[root@grover /proc]# more cpuinfo
processor : 0
vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
cpu family : 5
model : 8
model name : AMD-K6(tm) 3D processor
stepping : 12
cpu MHz : 298.813
cache size : 64 KB

fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 1
wp : yes
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mmx
3dnow
bogomips : 596.38
temperature : 33
system type : RaQ3/4
Afterwards, I got this:
[root /proc]# more cpuinfo
processor : 0
vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
cpu family : 5
model : 8
model name : AMD-K6(tm) 3D processor
stepping : 12
cpu MHz : 498.021442
fdiv_bug : no
hlt_bug : no
sep_bug : no
f00f_bug : no
coma_bug : no
fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 1
wp : yes
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mmx
3dnow
bogomips : 992.87
temperature : 34.5
What I thought was interesting ... after upgrading to the 500MHz
processor,
/proc/cpuinfo doesn't show the system type as Raq3/4 any more.
Just fyi ...
