[cobalt-users] Subdomains

Hi all,

I know this has been done to death but I can't seem to get my head round it.
I've looked through the archives but can't really find a definitive answer.

I've set up A records in the DNS section so that I have:

domain.com
mail.domain.com
www.domain.com
subdomain.domain.com
www.subdomain.domain.com

All pointing at my IP address.

On my site management section I have a virtual site for:

www.domain.com

With:

Host www
Domain domain.com
Web Server Alias domain.com
E-mail server alias domain.com

I also have a virtual site for:

www.subdomain.domain.com

With:

Host www
Domain subdomain.domain.com

And nothing for Webserver or email server aliases.

I also have a user setup on this virtual site.

If I go to subdomain.domain.com in the browser I get the holding page for
the server.

If I go to www.subdomain.domain.com I get a different holding page.

Could someone explain exactly which I need and which I don't. The domain is
actually workinprogress.co.uk and the idea is that there are four of us who
will be able to use it with our own subdomains. So I would be able to show
clients www.andy.workinprogress.co.uk/myclientname as would the other with
their clients. I want to set it up so that we can all have out own
usernames and subdomains etc.

Does this make sense and can anyone throw any light on it please?

Regards

Andy
