Subnetting to two segments of a network.
we used to (before co-location) have our smtp on one segment (nic1) private
on the other side of the firewall and our POP public (nic2).
Or use it to forward email to another segment of the network. Connect one
nic to one switch and another nic to another switch and service two
networks.
If you run a ISP all servers whether Linux or Windows must have two nics to
survive. What a pain without it.
Have fun with it

Subject: [cobalt-users] 2nd Ethernet Port on RAQ4
What can the 2nd ethernet port on a raq4 be used for?
We are using the server with a switch and router to the internet.
Can the 2nd ethernet port be used to serve virtual domains and
take some of the load off ethernet port #1?
I was looking for a solution to ease mail throughput. Can using
the second ethernet port ease the strain on the mail server also?
Thank you in advance for your responses.
Ron
