The installed chipset will support 1GB of RAM (this was 'confirmed' a
while back by Chris Johnson from Cobalt's Advanced Technology Group).
For some reason, Cobalt only tested (and supports) the server with
512MB.
So while it should/will work, there's no guarantee of acceptable
performance etc.
