I've ordered a rebuild now and asked for the files you suggested to be
kept. I'm not too hopeful though: I managed to get around bash crashing
out when using SSH Windows client 3.0 by using command-line SSH and
entering a command to execute:

Windows command prompt: ssh2 root@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <command>
Server: <asks for password>
Server: <executes command>

This way I can execute one command successfully, then the connection is
closed. I tried to back-up /home/sites and it said the directory didn't
exist! I could get an 'ls' of root's home directory though. Looks like
the file system's been wiped out somehow; can't think how that happened.

Ah well, I tried pretty much everything, now I'm rebuilding it. What I
need is a proper strategy for backing the machine up in future,
including the Raq GUI's user/site info (from postgres db and elsewhere),
the site data itself and mysql databases. Is there a common answer to
doing all that easily?

Thanks!
