The PC IDE/ATA spec only allows two such channels, so if I put in a
third one either the one on the motherboard will disable itself, or the
RaQ doesn't follow the spec, or we'll be sol, depending on how well the
rom is written.

Nothing in the spec <frown>, so behavior is unknown. I'm still
searching various linux documentation channels.
