100x was definitely an exaggeration on my part (but
when you tell someone shared hosting is $8 a month,
and a whole server is, for example upwards of $300, it
probably sounds to them like 1000x more *g*)
My calculator has never shown me better profits can be
made from reselling a dedicated server. a $250 a month
machine can host around 200 sites and make around
$2-3000. Even reselling the machine at twice the price
for the month wouldn't come close to that (not to
mention no one would want it at twice the price). Even
at $100 a month you'd make better margins from a
half-full shared server.
