Thanks for your reply Steve! There's a lot of info to read through, so
I'll give it a thorough look over and respond later :)

Just wanted to say ta. With your help and all the reading I've been
doing, I think I can make a plan to sort this out. An interesting
learning experience though. I understand a lot more about Linux security
now, which can only be a good thing.. and it looks like I'll get away
with no damage and minimal downtime too. I can't ask for more than that.

I'll write again soon. Oh and you know my hosting company Host Europe
sent me a Christmas card today??  Yeh..merry flippin christmas tsk.. !
