Did you go through the GUI to add your new drive? Click "Maintenance"
on the System Admin menu, then choose "Storage" at the top of the
screen. It will do all the appropriate steps for you to format the
drive, create a filesystem, etc.
Once you add the 2nd drive, you can then choose to locate all new
virtual sites on it, or on the original /home system if you wish.
