RE: [cobalt-users] RAQ4 ISO on RAQ3? >> now 550 upgrade

Sure got my interest peaked..?

I've personally upgraded a number of Raq3i's with 500MHz cpu's (Jumpered to
run at the faster speed), dual drives and max'd out the RAM to 512MB and had
no problems running the Raq4r ISO and all of the packages.

Since I currently have a RAQ3i that is just about a week or so from being
upgraded as described above maybe I'll give the 550 ISO a try on it with a
dual drive config.

?? Here is my question though to anyone who may know...

What is the benefit if any in the 550 vs. the 4R? Are there features that
are more useful?

Lastly.. considering the 550 is a newer model RAQ, do the 550 ISO and
general packages tend to create a significantly higher CPU load?

Just my two cents and curiosity..

Jerry

It should. I only did a single drive system myself, but the 550
payload is like a "smart" RaQ4 payload: if there are two drives in
the system, it automatically installs RAID-1. If only one drive is
present, no RAID.
