Hi,
It seems like my DNS is hopelessly screwed-up. I have a RAQ4i, which is a
dedicated MIVA commerce hosting server, so I can't just use the restore disk
to fix the problems without losing the MIVA stuff. MIVA and Sun seem to have
forgotten that any agreement to sell these boxes ever existed, and I cannot
get any support from either of them.
Here's the deal:
1. I only have TELNET access to the RAQ. (The GUI dissappeared when I
switched router gateway addresses one night). When I login, it takes about
90 seconds to make a connection.
2. I have been doing a lot of research about DNS on the list, and at
Redhat's site. I've found a lot of places where the DNS settings were really
screwed, and fixed them. (etc/named/, named.conf, records, et. al.)
3. According to the list, the RaQ is supposed to have a standard Linux File
Structure.
4. According to Redhat, the main DNS files are supposed to be in a directory
called /var/named
5. There is no /var/named directory.
Where should I REALLY look?
What I wouldn't give for a directory tree I could print out and reference.
This working blind through telnet, in an operating system I am just learning
really sucks. I didn't sign on for this - the sales lit said something about
a 'GUI'...
I have had this RaQ since June, and it has yet to have served it's first
page.
Thanks,
Jeff
