Just a thought..
Have you considered that the PKG files may damaged?
Also alternately rather than install from your desktop computer.. my not FTP
the files to the server and then try installing from the servers own drive.
I've run into a couple of instances where the PKG files was on the large
side and took to long to install from the desktop computer and by
alternately uploading the file to the server and then installing from the
servers own drive things worked without any failures or problems.

Nope. That wasn't it. This is really perplexing... The box worked a week
ago. Even tried another hard drive today. Thought maybe it was my CD-Rom
drive, but was able to install a CacheRaQ image on the machine.
Downloaded a new ISO image this morning, quickly running out of ideas.
I'll keep pluggin along.
