Re: [cobalt-users] [RaQ4] Hard Drive IDE Cables

Can anyone tell me if there's something special about the IDE Hard drive
cables in a RaQ4? I know they're Ultra ATA/33, but I've got a box where
one of the cables got torn (don't ask) and I am attempting to find a
replacement. All of the cables I have tried will not let me do an
install. For a while I thought it was the box, so I swapped it out with
another (virtually identical) and I have the same problem. Seems to be a
speed issue, 'cause the install times out while installing the 23MB
Chilisoft file (I think it's version 3.5.2 on the CD).

Not familiar with the Raq4 ... did you mean ATA 133 or was 33 correct? If 100/133, do you have the high speed IDE cables, 80 leads for 40 pins?

The only oddity on my Raq3 is the mother board side of the IDE does not have a "missing pin" that is standard for IDE, so I have to cut the "blocker" out cables to be able to use them, but that's a physical thing I have to do to just plug them in.

Good luck,
