I'd agree with Gerald here, but to be absolutely sure, have you looked in the files? or checked what they are??
use file to find out what type of file, e.g.:
file restore-files-bad.11777
And it should tell you if its a tgz or perl or text/ascii.
Then try tailing it see if it makes sense.
But generally, things that pop into temp can be killed off without harm.
[disclaimer: its friday afternoon, nobody in the office can be bothered, i'm probably not even thinking straight as i'm waiting to go home after this week, so don't sue me if it goes pear-shaped ;)]
