Haven't you tried Raqback script? Check this out
http://www.neuhaus-internet.de/cobalt/raqbackup/installation/
It uses CMU for the complete backup and can then FTP to some other server.
You can schedule this to run at particular intervals in the Cron. The script
runs very well but is not supported by Sun (But it works...well no harm at
all).
