LS> Basic bottom line: you need an MX record per domain.
Exactly. This may be somewhat redundant, as I didn't read every single post, but here's what we do:
A domain.com > IP A www.domain.com > IP A mail.domain.com > IP MX domain.com > high priority mail.domain.comClients obviously check their mail on mail.domain.com, which for our shared customers is on a separate, dedicated mail server.
and then, if and only if you've been delegated reverse authority, you will set up ONE and only ONE PTR (reverse record) per IP. Definitely do not set up a PTR for each and every site, you're wasting your time... but I think that's already been established :p
