I don't know specifics on the RaQ550, but if its like all the other models the fact that it won't boot shouldn't be a problem (I'm assuming the LCD lights up and it does 'try' to do something!)
Pop the restore CD in a spare PC with compatible nic and do the crossover thing. The installation should re-partition and re-configure the damaged drive.
Or if that is a little too destructive, why not pop the damaged drive out, put it into another machine running a linux release, mount the partition and take a look whats happened and fix it.
I know thats a big generalisation, just dropping a few suggestions in!
