Have you configured the username you are trying to login with within
MySQL on the server to accept those connections (you can do so with
something like phpMyAdmin http://www.phpmyadmin.net/ ) 
The default for root is localhost only.. So generally I'd just say add a
user such as admin with all privileges reload the server (in phpMyAdmin)
and then you should be able to login to your server.. Try it ... If not
let me know

Hello,

I want to use an ODBC-connection from my Windows XP PC to a
MySQL-database
on our RAQ3i

I have downloaded MyODBC v2.5 & v3.51 from the MySQL website.

When I make a connection to MySQL via ODBC I am having the following
error-message:
Host 'DF51QSDSQD.kabel.telenet.be' is not allowed to connect to this SQL
Server.
I have this message with both versions of MyODBC.

It seems that MySQL is only excepting connections true LOCALHOST

Do I have to recompile MySQl (v3.23.53) / PHP (v4.2.3) with a special
setting.
Change something in MySQl.ini or something else ?
