Hack cobalt kernel code? Sun give this out as open source?

My XTR's just x86, and looking at the dmesg, a standardish linux kernel will work. There's no reason why I can't see why Debian won't run on it - just actually installing it's going to be the fun part. :-/

Aren't RAQ3's MIPS based? Can't see what exactly needs to be hacked... but you've obviously been looking at this longer than I have. Care to fill us in? ;-)

FYI I have a bunch of debian packages which I use on a commercial debian hybrid I sell. Its very modular, and is very close to doing what the cobalt does (at the moment its more aimed at firewalls/gateways, but its not hard to change).

Sigh. Wish there was a way to put Debian on my XTR remotely :-/

How do the XTR Restore CD's work? I've never even touched or looked at an XTR before physically :-)
