[cobalt-users] RAQ4 - Perl Upgrade

Hello,
I have been reading this list for 3 year now and have learnt loads about
Linux and Cobalt and fixed all/most of my 'problems' from the valuable info
here.
However, I have a problem which I am stuck on which I would be grateful for
some help on.

I have a new raq4 which I have been trying to upgrade to the latest stable
version of perl, being 5.8 - now I know that it breaks the gui but as this
box is not in production yet I can afford to 'mess' around.

Yes I know it is for 5.6....

I have copied across the files as mentioned and ran
/usr/admserv/cgi-bin/.cobalt/siteList/siteList.cgi
and fixed the problems as they occured.
I had to install a lot of modules but did get the gui working to a point -
however there seems to be a problem with Postgresql - this is the error I
get.

perl: error in loading shared libraries:
/usr/local/perl5.8/lib/site_perl/5.8.0/i586-linux/auto/Pg/Pg.so: undefined
symbol: Perl_safefree

I have Googled and searched but I have not found an answer I understand - my
perl is not good!

Can anyone throw any light on this?

I am going to spend more time on this as it has taken me hours to get to
this point and I know that this is the last [hopefully] link in the chain. I
have 2 clients/designers who need Perl => 5.6 to run their pdf stuff and up
till now they have been on a Debian box but I would like to get them running
on the raq for a number of reasons....

Here are the modules I had to install - Yes I know that the Bundle::Cobalt
is for 5.6 but I just needed it for Expat....anyhow it took me further down
the road!
