login with user@xxxxxxxxxx or regular login with username and pass. its really sweet. We've always assigned people "login names" and let them choose their"alias" to have "alias@xxxxxxxxxx". With your squirrelmail can the userlog on as alias@xxxxxxxxxx?
That is a different plugin, available here : http://squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=37
If not, can they log in as user@xxxxxxxxxx, yet have "alias@xxxxxxxxxx" as their return address?
as for the return address, the default will be the username (i believe), however, there is a global preference for that in the options, general preferences, reply to address.
another tip would be to create any special default preferences ( ie. i use the dark grey theme as default) by changing the /data/default_prefs file with a set of prefs from an account that you configure. this allows you to implement look and feel changes to all new users simultaneously, or feature nifty things like calendars or weather reports (ok, the weather is silly, but . . . .). i also highly reccomend the addgraphics plugin available at: http://squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=30 which allows you to put an image in the top left corner above the folder listing.
