Also, I'm not sure how to set up the secondary IP address on the RaQ-2, and how to start the mailer without also getting the POP and IMAP services(which all seem to come on together when "E-mail server" is turned on from the GUI).

i may be wrong, but you should be able to configure your nat to point stuff from a second ip address to the raq. then all you have to do is set up the dns correctly to accept stuff from that ip.

I guess I should probably just get in on Telnet and treat this thing like any other Linux box, but the GUI is nice (for the DNS, especially now that I've fixed it to match the requirements of our ISP), and I don't want to totally break the GUI.

ssh is the word. www.pkgmaster.com

On the other hand, I don't want someone poking around in the GUI to be able to break what I set up, either. So I might have to make a slight modification to the GUI to eliminate the lines and links that allow the e-mail services to be started, stopped and configured. It looks like eliminating one row of a table on one template will put a stop to that problem (making the e-mail stuff unreachable from the GUI).

rather than mess with the gui, just put appropriate security restrictions on port 81, that's the gui's port.

I'm looking for comments and advice on this idea.

might want to install webmin too. its a simple install. webmin.org

good luck
