It's certainly possible.

Have you tried creating a brand new FP site, e.g.,
http://sub.yourdomain.com/ and add that to your DNS and then see if FP
is working properly there. If so, it sounds like the old problem of
removing the extensions actually not removing everything. There are a
number of posts in the archives about deleting all the FP config files
manually for a site with problems.
