[cobalt-users] Re: Manually Add User

Dave Thurman (Mailing List Email) writes:
I searched the archives and states to add a user without the gui I would:
 adduser
I get command not found. It's a Raq4
Tried adduser -u "name" and get an error wanting UID
I want to add a user manually with a name and they would be the same group.
Not real hot at Redhat, Debian is our preferred OS, besides our washing
machines.

Dave, I know you will probubly get a bunch of replies, but since I am NOT a unix/linux guru ( IE: I have to goto the books alot or type man xxx ), I install webmin ( http://www.webmin.com ) on all of my servers for just this reason. It makes it real easy to do alot of stuff not covered under the cobalt gui. Just ALWAYS use cobalts gui, where you can so you do not accidently screw up anything. I find that if I use webmin for what is not covered by the gui, all works very well and quick. now to answer your question, at the telnet/ssh prompt type man adduser. you will then get the proper command structure back.

Thanks,
William E. Moore
