Yes, it will work at 10Mb/sec...  I have done both many, many times and
it's just fine.



I had a problem getting the direct cable to work at 100Mb/sec
I got out a cheap 100Mb/sec switch and connected both machines to it. They both connected at 100Mb/sec.
