One of my Raqs is being used for file sharing presently. I recently
transferred a bunch of files/directories from my Win2k box that was
acting as a file share to the raq, using Windows Explorer. Copied the
files to the samba share that is used by a group, and some of the files
preserved their date stamps (created/modified date) but a bunch of
others changed the date to the current date. Now whenever I try to copy
any files over, or ftp files, they lose their original dates. Can't get
any to preserve their original dates.
I wouldn't ask on this list ordinarily since it might seem off topic,
but someone on a local linux users group said he remembered that problem
on a Qube he was working on and it was fixed by some patch from Sun.
This Raq has I think most or all of the current updates from the
official packages site. But I thought maybe someone here has seen this
problem before. The archives returned nought.
I've also got an inquiry into the smb newsgroup, but nothing there so far.
Cheers,
