I don't know anything about the uninstaller; it should be easy to
uninstall, but I've not tried Michael's package. And I believe Michael
has posted somewhere that yes, his packages "phone home" upon
installation.

He's certainly not trying to hide the fact.
If you'd rather, you can install it from the latest version RPM
available for RHL6.2; should work fine. You can find one at
www.rpmfind.net if memory serves.
