I don't think there would be any difference in bandwidth. With a DNSBL
like ordb.org, the email comes in, then it bounces back to the sender.
So it uses bandwidth both ways just like if you had received it.

With the Spam Assassin package, the email comes in and based on your
preference (set from the siteadmin GUI) is either deleted, or the
subject line is changed to **SPAM** and the mime type is changed to
text plain.  I don't have it automatically deleted but instead just
have my email software move it to a different folder; that way I don't
have to see it but can if I need to.

The main cost that I look at is my time.

I rate  DNSBL systems like ordb.org a 2 since they don't block the
vast majority of spam.  I'd rate the spam Assassin install by
solarspeed.net a 9.
